Imperial Princess Ate (安勅内親王)

Imperial Princess Ate (year of birth unknown - November 4, 855) was a member of the Imperial Family during the early Heian period. She was the thirteenth princess of Emperor Kanmu, and her mother was Kyujin (court lady), Jushiinoge (Junior Fourth Rank, Lower Grade), FUJIWARA no Kawako (daughter of Jingi haku - a chief official in charge of matters relating to Shintoism), FUJIWARA no Otsugu). She was a sister to Emperor Heizei, Emperor Saga, Emperor Junna, by a different mother, and Imperial Prince Nakano, Imperial Princess Oi, Imperial Princess Ki, Imperial Princess Yoshihara were her siblings by different mothers.

Her mother, FUJIWARA no Kawako was from the Western House of the Fujiwara clan. She was appointed to shihon (the fourth rank for an Imperial Princess) in 817, and became a priest in 849. She passed away on November 4, 855, during the reign of Emperor Montoku (grandchild of Emperor Saga).
